- Coordination among member Boards and Organizations
- Maintenance of uniformity in academic standards
- Development and promotion of the academic evaluation, examination and assessment
- Implementation and monitoring of federal curricular guidelines (Schemes, syllabi, implementation of the decisions, etc.)
- Review of Secondary and Higher Secondary School curricula (Feedback from Boards)
- Examination Reforms
- Regulate foreign examination boards and Institutes operating in the country
- Capacity building of the teachers, paper setters, assessors and examination staff for improvement of examination and assessment among the member boards
- Develop and promote national and international linkages with educational and examining bodies
- Promotion of healthy co-curricular activities and organizing Inter Board Quiz, Debates and Sports competitions
- Transform the examination system in the country by introducing modern assessment and examination techniques
- Coordination with the Ministry of Education in the following areas:
- Assistance in policy making
- Implementation of Government policies and directives
- Undertaking special assignments
- Dissemination of information
- Equivalence of Foreign/Indigenous Qualifications and issuance of certificates
- Attestation of Certificates and Diplomas upto HSSC levels (Grade 12)
- Conduct of National Summer Camp for Talented Science Students on yearly basis
- Merit scholarships and awards to high achievers from all member boards.
